Letter and Sound Correspondence

Fun with ABC's...

Understanding the correspondence between letters and sounds is essential in learning to read and write. For a child to read a word, they must recognize the letters in the word and associate each letter with its sound. For a child to write a word, they must break the word into its component sounds and know the letters that represent these sounds. Knowledge of letter sound correspondences and phonological awareness skills are the basic building blocks of learning to read and write.

To work on our letter and sound correspondence skills, we completed several stimulating and fun activities including:

Listened to The Phonics Song created by KidsTV123
Read and sang Chicka Chicka Boom Boom by Bill Martin, Jr. and John Archambault
Completed Beginning Sounds Printable Pack
Completed Buggy Beginning Sounds
Completed Alphabet Flip Book
Completed some of the Fall Math and Literacy Packet
